About Us

Toby started his professional life as an estate agent in 2000 and qualified as a Chartered Surveyor in 2003. Initially, he worked in sales and in 2015, moved to the buying side. Toby has a wealth of experience in the purchase of the finest country houses, sporting estates and grouse moors in the north of England. Toby also handles all aspects of forestry and natural capital acquisition work.

Toby lives between Bedale and Ripon with his wife Anna, his two boys and a small pack of spaniels. He has a passion for ski touring around the world and is just as happy walking up hill as skiing down.

Tom has spent his entire professional life operating in the Yorkshire and North of England property market. Qualifying as a Chartered Surveyor in 2002, Tom has considerable experience of high-end residential, investment and agricultural property with an exceptional reputation throughout the North of England. Tom was responsible for establishing the business in 2010 following successful stints with two national firms of Chartered Surveyors.

Tom lives between Ripon and Boroughbridge with his wife Shan and four young daughters. As well as an encyclopaedic knowledge of Yorkshire's property market, he also has a love of sailing, tennis and all things cricket.

Edgar has spent his entire career working in the commercial property sector, specialising in investment and asset management. He has worked with a wide variety of clients including banks, property companies, institutional and private investors across multiple sectors including offices, retail, hotels, roadside, industrial and distribution in the UK and across Europe since 2005.

With his wife Millie, Edgar lives on a small farm north of York with four children and many pets. With a deep enthusiasm for cricket (playing and watching), the outdoors and country sports, when not ferrying his children around he is never happier than when holidaying in the Highlands of Scotland.

Blair runs the Rural Consultancy division and offers a bespoke management service to a range of rural clients in and around Yorkshire. From a farming family in South West Scotland, Blair brings with him a practical understanding of the day to day running of rural enterprises together with the technical knowledge gained since qualifying as a Chartered Surveyor and Fellow of the Association of Agricultural Valuers in 2015. He has experience in advising a wide range of clients from private individuals to large institutions. Blair is also vice chairman of the Future Farmers of Yorkshire. Although Yorkshire is now home for Blair, he still goes back to the family farm to help out at busy times.

Following a successful career in international events and marketing, Shan now supports Tom and Toby in their client searches, coordinating the property and contacts databases. Working part time, Shan has been responsible for sourcing some exceptional off market deals and is an integral member of the team.

Sweeping up behind four young girls does not give Shan a huge amount of time to enjoy her passions for skiing, gardening and riding.

Robert started his career at Humberts in a range of offices and ultimately established the Humberts office in York managing a range of significant estates across Yorkshire. In 1993 he joined the 21,000-acre Dawnay Estates as the Estates Director and was responsible for the six family businesses. On retiring in 2021 he continues to provide consultancy advice and trusteeship to several estates, a community-owned woodland and charitable foundations. Robert oversees the Rural Consultancy side of our business.

Emma has a strong administrative background having worked as a PA for a wide variety of private sector organisations ranging from publishing, hotel and leisure developments, landscape consultancies, independent music festivals, private medical administration and now supporting Blair and the rural team. She loves being a part of the business and is an effective communicator and organiser, with an eye for detail.

Kathryn is a Chartered Surveyor and a Fellow of the Association of Agricultural Valuers. She worked for a large firm undertaking estate management for a wide range of clients and has also worked on behalf of private developers and statutory undertakers on both regional and national infrastructure projects. She supports Blair with the day to day running of the business. In addition to estate management experience, Kathryn has worked on behalf of private developers and statutory undertakers on both regional and national infrastructure projects. Kathryn is also studying law, and in any spare time that she has, she trains and competes her young event horse.
